Flying to Jamaica

Jamaica is well-served by many major airlines, including: Air Canada, Air Jamaica, American Airlines, British Airways, BWIA West Indies Airways, LTU International, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic. These airlines fly into either or both of the international airports in Montego Bay and Kingston. If possible, select an airline that flies to Montego Bay.

Please note, if you are not able to fly direct to Jamaica and you are without US citizenship or a US visa waiver, then you might find it easier to transit through the UK (London or Manchester) rather than through the US. Please consult your local UK Embassy for transit regulations.

Travelling to the PCF4 Venue

via Montego Bay

The closest international airport to Ocho Rios is the Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. You are advised to fly to this large, well-serviced airport and then travel by road to Ocho Rios.

If you are arriving on 29-31 October, you will be met at the airport by PCF4 representatives and then transported to your hotel in Ocho Rios. It takes just over one hour to travel by road from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios.

If you are arriving on another date, you will need to make your own way from Montego Bay. Some hotels, particularly the larger resorts, will arrange for airport transfers, for example, round trip transfers to/from the Sunset Jamaica Grande and the Montego Bay Airport can be arranged directly with the hotel at a cost of US$40.00. Be sure to ask when you book. Otherwise, you can use a hire car, scheduled bus service or a taxi (see details below).

via Kingston

If your flight into Jamaica lands at Norman Manley International Airport, in Kingston, then you may prefer to travel from there by road to Ocho Rios.

If you are arriving on 29-31 October, you will be met at the airport by PCF4 representatives and then transported to your hotel in Ocho Rios. It takes just over one and a half (1.5) hours to travel by road from Kingston to Ocho Rios.

If you are arriving on another date, you will need to make your own way from Kingston by hire-car, scheduled bus service or a taxi (see details below).

Ocho Rios is also served by domestic airlines flying to the tiny Boscobel Aerodrome (Phone: +1-876-975-3101).

Information on travel documentation and/or visa requirements for Jamaica

All people travelling to PCF4 are strongly advised to consult the website of the Jamaican High Commission in the UK, which has some useful information about which nationalities do or do not need visas and the required travel documentation for Jamaica: http://jhcuk.org/visas.asp

In general, with the exception of Cameroon, Cayman Islands, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Samoa and Sri Lanka, holders of passports issued by countries of the Commonwealth do not require entry visas for Jamaica. Non-Canadian and non-British citizens who are Permanent Residents of Canada or possess resident status in the United Kingdom also do not require entry visas.

Even if you are not required to obtain a visa, you will still need to provide the following, upon arrival in Jamaica (or in transit):

  • National Passport (valid for six months minimum) or proof of citizenship (with photo ID);
  • Valid re-entry visa for country of residence;
  • Proof of financial support for duration of visit;
  • Acceptable documentation regarding visits for business/commercial, educational, or employment purposes, e.g., confirmation of PCF4 registration.

Additional information for those travelling from Canada is available on the website of the Jamaican High Commission, Ottawa.

For questions or visas, please contact the closest Jamaican High Commission, Embassy or Consulate to your residence: http://www.jhcottawa.ca/otherinfo/hc_embassies.htm
